Yalls - “Grand Entrance”

“It’s basically a tear it up pizza anthem for our generation.” - @yallsmusic

This fresh instrumental beat from Berkeley’s Dan Casey (a.k.a. Yalls) has been making the rounds since he posted it to his SoundCloud on Monday night, and rightly so. I had the pleasure of being introduced to this track in the flesh during his headline performance at Milk Bar SF on Saturday night, which was one of the best I’ve seen from the local legend.

Everyone was vibin’ hard to the build up, but it wasn’t until the orgasmic drop at the two-minute mark that asses really hit the floor. Originally intended as a wild hip-hop beat, this banger definitely stands on its own. Stacked with high-pitched samples and future-funk hooks, “Grand Entrance” is not be fucked with. In fact, Dan will probably kick you out of the club if you try rapping in his face. You can ride the vibe, just don’t kill it.

And as if one bangin’ beat wasn’t enough, Yalls dropped another one late last night. Enjoy.

Yalls - “Shapeless”

You may have noticed that I have been away from No Stranger Feeling this past week. This is due to my first ever pilgrimage to SXSW where I had the unfathomable pleasure of staying in a crazy house with the bros from Yalls, Kites Sail High, GOBBLE GOBBLE, Teen Daze, Ander (Skeletal System), and Jheri Evans (Get Off the Coast). I also had the opportunity to meet all my favorite blog bros in real life thanks to Ears of the Beholder and yvynyl, and of course to attend lots of amazing shows.

Yalls is Berkley-based, New Jersey-native Dan Casey, who has been busy experimenting with new musical styles and practicing his groovy live set. “Shapeless” was released on his bandcamp page earlier this month, an outstanding jam that “stretches space and time” with thoughtful vocals and ambient tones of swirling piano and stellar beats.

Yalls will be performing his well-rehearsed live set in San Francisco this Thursday (3/24) at Haight Street’s Milk Bar with Adventure, Exray’s, and Phantom Kicks as presented by epicsauce. Be sure to get there early to catch his awesome set.
